JON GROOM BETWEEN THE LIGHT

JON GROOM (1953-

Jon Groom's art demands multiple viewings. While the initial impression is of two-dimensional blocks of flat pigment, his pieces appear to change shape and color as the viewer moves in front of them. This collection of exquisitely reproduced works displays the effects of Groom's sculptural approach to painting. The book is divided into three sections, each of which focuses on a specific aspect of the artist's oeuvre. "Painting is a journey to simplify the complexity of existence," claims Groom. This book takes readers on that journey, one that explores the nexus of color and shape.
Jan Groom was born in 1953 in Powys, Wales.
