JÜRGEN PARTENHEIMER - DISCONTINUITY, PARADOX & PRECISION

JÜRGEN PARTENHEIMER (1947-)

Partenheimer

This is German artist, Jürgen Partenheimer’s first exhibition in the UK, a major solo presentation comprising new and recent painting, works on paper, and sculpture. It reveals the interconnectivity of his essentially Modernist practice, especially through its manifestations at different locations, in Ikon Gallery and off-site.

Partenheimer’s work is rooted in abstraction, but across many forms, expressing connections between art, poetry, music and literature, and importantly their place in everyday life.

Ikon Gallery are collaborating with Kunstmuseum Bonn where the various elements combine for a German presentation; likewise connecting spaces and being part of the annual prestigious Beethoven Festival, with performances scheduled to take place at both the Kunstmuseum and the city’s Concert Hall.

Forfattere: Konstantinos Karachalios, Jürgen Partenheimer, Nigel Prince, Laymert Garcia Dos Santos, Christoph Schreier & Kevin Volans.

Accompanying this catalogue is a CD of music, The Partenheimer Project by world-renowned composer Kevin Volans.

Published on the occasion of the exhibition at Ikon Gallery, Birmingham, 2 April – 18 May 2008, and Kunstmuseum Bonn, 21 August – 9 November 2008.
