MORTEN BUCH. THE LAST RESORT - LETZTE ZUFLUCHT

MORTEN BUCH (1970-)

Morten Buch (born in 1970) is part of a new generation of painters in Scandinavia that link the legacy of Danish Expressionism to the minimalist coolness of American formal vocabulary. The portrayal of everyday objects and interiors attain a room-filling presence within the format of the painting and this lends objects a “familiar strangeness”, that of a monumental, intense drawing that links in with the manipulations of today’s digital image culture.

This comprehensive publication of the artist’s first solo exhibition in a German gallery has been created in cooperation with Kunstmuseum Horsens and shows works from recent years as well as the newest paintings.

Authors: Viola Weigel, Claus Hagedorn-Olsen, Maibritt Pedersen.

The illustrated book was published on the occasion of the exhibition “Morten Buch. Skulpturale Malerei“, 4 July to 14 September 2008, Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven.
