TEVEN SCOTT. LUMINOUS ICONS

STEVEN SCOTT (1955-)

Steven Scott is an English artist whose interdisciplinary approach revolves around the rich complexities of light. Drawing on years of experience working with theater lighting and design, Scott’s innovative installations seamlessly blend techniques from art, architecture, and theater.

In Steven Scott: Luminous Icons, eminent American art historian Robert C. Morgan presents for the first time a contextual analysis of Scott’s light installations, situating them alongside works by other prominent contemporary artists, including Wassily Kandinsky, Mark Rothko, and Barnett Newman. Richly illustrated throughout with photographs by Adam Mork and Matthew McConnel, Luminous Icons explores Scott’s body of work, ranging from Seventy Seven—a vast seven-story installation that forms the central atrium of Deloitte’s Copenhagen headquarters—to Brown Light, a series of meditative lightworks for smaller spaces.
