NINA STEN-KNUDSEN. MONUMENTAL PAINTING

NINA STEN-KNUDSEN (1957-)

The viewer overwhelmed by the large-scale format, is intrigued by the variety of the form, a journey of discovery through the pictorial world of Nina Sten-Knudsen begins. Multitudinous details, both people and objects, are embedded in apparently endless landscapes. Fascinated, the viewer discovers fragments from the history of European art, as in an archaeological dig, these fragments appear out of the multiple layers of the sediments of history. At the same time, the viewer is captured by the magical atmosphere.

Nina Sten-Knudsen is one of the most important Danish artists of her generation. Now, after many international presentations of her work, her monumental paintings are being exhibited in Germany  for the first time, also in this book.

Authors: Ingrid Mössinger, Cecil Bojsen-Haarder, Carsten Thau, Peter Inden, Therese Maria Gram & Jana Bille.
