Teresa Hubbard und Alexander Birchler leben und arbeiten in Berlin und Basel und zählen zu den aufstrebenden Fotokünstlern in Europa. Den großformatigen Farbfotografien mit ihren eigentümlichen Perspektiven gehen aufwändige Aufbauten voraus. Dem psychisch aufgeladenen Raum wollen die Künstler eine physische Bühne bauen. Auf ihr sollen kurze, kaum wahrgenommene Momente - menschliche Gesten und Haltungen zwischen Kontrolle und Kontrollverlust - zum Zentrum der Erzählung werden.Dazu dient ihnen die Fotografie, die das mit bloßem Auge kaum zu Sehende überdeutlich fixiert und das Reale mit dem Surrealen verknüpft.

Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler currently live and work in Berlin and Basel and may be counted among the rising photographic artists in Europe. Their large-format photographs with their idiosyncratic perspectives are based on labour-intensive pre- built structures. The artists´ intention is to set a physical stage for the psychologically charged room. On this stage, short, barely perceived moments - human gestures and attitudes between control and the loss of control - are to become the narrative centre. Their means is photography, which fixates all to clearly that which is barely visible with the naked eye, connecting the real and the surreal.
