MARC CHAGALL CERAMICS

MARC CHAGALL CERAMICS (1887-1985)

Russian-born artist Marc Chagall is particularly well-known for his dream-like, almost surrealistic paintings. Less well-known, however, is his impressive oeuvre in ceramics. A large part of this work, produced in the small town of Vallauris on the French Riviera, is now in the possession of his daughter. In the spring of 2005 these works will be on display for the first time in the Netherlands together with pieces from the collection of MHK in Den Bosch. This publication explores the significance of Chagall as a ceramist and places his work in the context of 20th-century decorated ceramics. The catalogue section features over 100 full-page colour illustrations of Chagall's ceramic works.

Forfattere: Yvonne G.J.M. Joris, Meret Meyer & Titus M. Eliëns.
