A chain is only as strong as its weakest link . This motto expresses the aims and ideals behind Tone Vigeland's work in jewellery and sculpture. She usually works in ductile metals, such as silver and lead, and her palette ranges between grey and black. Tone Vigeland's work is well-known throughout the United States. Her pieces can be found in many important museum collections, such as The American Craft Museum, New York; Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum, New York; Museum of Modern Art, New York; Mus,e des Beaux-Arts de Montr,al, Canada; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas. This is an artist monograph presenting a career spanning nearly fifty years. Beginning with Tone Vigeland's early works in the tradition of Scandinavian Design, this publication weaves through decades of creating multifaceted jewellery, and on to the sculpture of recent years.
